Saturday: A rough beginning

A little bit of a rough beginnning to our trip to Habitat/Thrivent trip to El Salvador.  We were flying out of Indianapolis Airport early Saturday morning (4:45am wakup call EASTERN TIME).  We were suppose to fly from Indiaanpolis to Atlanta and then from Atlanta to El Salvador and be in El Salvador around 1:00pm.  Our flight from Indianapolis was delayed due to fog in Atlanta and we were going to miss our connecting flight.  Pam checked on the connecting flight and we were going to miss our connecting flight, so she got us moved to another airline, otherwise I would still be in Atlanta this morning, instead of writing this post.  The other airline took us through Dallas and we eventually got to El Salvador around 8:00pm and to the Hotel around 9:00pm.

Kathryn got to use her Spanish at the airport customs official, although I had to help interpret "Santa Anta".   When we got to baggage claim we were missing one of our suit cases.  This was the suitcase with bags of toys and coloring books for the kids at the church, so we are disappointed.  Since all of our other bags made it, we think security people might have been suspicious of the contents.  Kathryn filed a claim and hopefully it will come today or tomorrow.

The last leg of journey on Saturday was the 1 hour ride from the airport to San Salvador. The airport was very busy, lots of flights had just arrived, so cars and people everywhere.  We got to the Hotel about 9:15pm.  We were all ready for a good nights sleep.
